Clutchpilot partnered with Lays to design and execute a fully branded exhibit van that brought the snack experience directly to consumers. From ideation to 3D visualization and execution, the van was transformed into a traveling brand activation hub featuring sampling counters, interactive zones & bold visual storytelling. The result was a mobile brand experience that drove massive footfall, social media buzz & stronger consumer connections for Lays across festivals and events
Challenge
When Lays approached Clutchpilot, they faced unique exhibit challenges: Mobility & Design Balance The van needed to be eye catching on the move but also functional when parked at events. Brand Recall – Ensuring the Lays identity stood out in crowded public spaces with high visibility branding. Consumer Interaction – The van wasn’t just for branding; it had to provide engagement zones for sampling, photo ops, and live promotions. Technical Constraints – Designing within the limitations of a vehicle’s dimensions while maintaining a strong 3D visual appeal.
Solution
1. Ideation & Concept Development We started with storyboarding and mood boards, aligning with Lays’ fun, youthful, and flavor packed personality. Developed creative concepts such as giant Lays chip props, bold yellow branding, and interactive van extensions (e.g., fold-out counters for sampling). 2. 3D Visualization & Prototyping Created photo realistic 3D renders of the van in multiple layouts: traveling mode, parked setup, and event-ready mode. Integrated brand elements like oversized chip bags, neon lights, and digital screens for campaign storytelling. 3. Functional & Modular Design Designed a modular setup that allowed the van to transform: Fold out serving counters for free samples LED displays for live campaign content Photo-op corners with larger-than-life Lays branding Ensured smooth visitor flow and safety compliance while keeping it compact and road legal. 4. Execution & On Ground Support Provided detailed CAD drawings and fabrication blueprints for the build team. Coordinated with branding partners to match Pantone-perfect Lays yellow for consistency. Supported final installation and quality checks to ensure the van was as vibrant in reality as in the renders.
